Common questions

When is a sagging ceiling something to worry about?

When a ceiling starts to sag suddenly, over a short time, and especially when a crack opens at the low point of the sag, that’s a cause for concern. It can usually be repaired, but often we recommend replacing the whole ceiling.

How do you fix a ceiling crack so it doesn’t come back?

We add wood backing or bracing behind the seam, put in extra screws, and use fiber mesh tape with quick-set mud. Together those make a seam repair last much longer than it would without them.

What ceiling textures can you match?

All the regular residential textures. Sand swirl is the most common in the St. Louis metro and we see it constantly; popcorn, knockdown and orange peel come up too. We can often match DIY textures as well — the trick is working out which product was used and how it was applied, whether by roller, sprayer or brush, and then duplicating that technique.
